How to Join

Dear School of Music Alumni:

I am writing to encourage you to join or to renew your membership in the Penn State School of Music Affiliate Program Group. This organization includes graduate and friends of the School of Music whose purpose is:

“To assist Penn state in launching the School of Music into national prominence by acting as an advisory board of colleagues who maintain close contact with the School of Music and its faculty; providing a forum in which to foster the educational and professional opportunities of alumni, current students, and faculty; and securing financial support for the School of Music.”

The School of Music Affiliate Program Group (APG) was formed in 2003, so we are a relatively young organization. Our primary goals for 2006-7 are taken from our mission statement:

(1) to provide a means by which alumni of Penn State’s School of Music can stay connected to each other and to the School

(2) to assist the School of Music in the recruitment of musically talented students

(3) to assist by appropriate means with the provision of financial support to students studying music at Penn State

(4) to foster a sense of pride in the School of Music and a commitment to the University while enhancing its reputation and prestige.

I hope you will join in support of these worthy and ambitious goals.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, I invite you to join the Penn State School of Music APG. Please complete and return the enclosed membership form. Our annual dues are $20 (membership year July 1 - June 30). I also encourage you complete the section of the membership form that asks about current activities so that we can share your successes with alumni in upcoming newsletters.
